January + February

Goooood morning and happy Sunday!!! First things first, today is my fabulous friend Cecilia’s birthday 🙂 She turns 21 today, and while I can’t be with her today, I hope she’s having an amazing time today.

Anywho, today marks the final week of this February, so I wanted to touch on some stuff I did, saw, read, watched, and experienced in the past two months, and I also wanted to share how I’ve adjusted the goals I set for myself this year, and how I’m keeping up with some of them!

Jan + Feb Favorites!

I watched, listened to, and read a lot these two months. My favorite movies I’ve watched have been One of Them Days (2025), Companion (2025), and Waves (2019). One of Them Days I got to watch with my friends at Disney Springs, and we were the only ones in the theater so we got to laugh as much and as loud as we wanted- and we did!!! It was so so so funny, so stressful to watch but in a good way, and overall just a good time. I thought I didn’t know what Companion was until I sat down and vaguely remembered I had seen a trailer for it. I don’t even know how to describe it, but it was so interesting. Waves was set in Florida, so in between a few “hey I’ve been there!!!” moments, it genuinely had me so mind-boggled and so captivated.

I’ve finished two books and I’m about halfway done with a third: I reread my favorite book, The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo, and I read West with Giraffes, a historical fiction about two men who transported two giraffes from New York to San Diego. I have a tendency to reread Evelyn Hugo at the start of each year to get a good footing on my reading goal!!! This year it’s 25 (more on that later). I’m currently reading Girls to the Front, which is about the Riot Grrrl revolution in Olympia, D.C., and all across the country in the 90s. It’s nonfiction, but the writing style is so digestible and so interesting, it almost reads like a novel.

I haven’t been listening to a lot of new music, but I have been going through a repeat phase. I had been non-stop listening to Sunburn by Dominic Fike, and DTMF, of course. My current repeats are Abracadabra (Lady Gaga: absolute banger), Coincidence (Sabrina Carpenter: suddenly relatable), and Ivy (Frank Ocean- one of my favorite songs of all time).

Resolutions Update

So, I wanna focus on two things: the goals I’ve been doing good with and the goals I’ve refined a little bit. I’m gonna do it as a list to make it easier.

  1. One song a day (Spotify Playlist)

    • So far, I’ve added a song to a new playlist everyday this year. I’ve missed a day or two, but I’ve gone back in the next day and added! I’ve been adding either a new song, a song I discovered, a song I have on repeat, or a song that reminds me of that day.

  2. Go to church once a month

    • I went to the first service of the year at my sister’s church back home before I left, which was the perfect start to my new little journey. Since I’ve been here, I’ve actually gone twice with a friend to the church that he found. I’m keeping my goal as once a month, but hopefully I’m going to get to go whenever I’m off!

  3. Read 25 books

    • This evens out to 2-3 books a month, which I’m not doing bad with. Ideally, I would read two books a month, but I’m less concerned with the month-to-month, and more concerned with the overall goal; I read two in January and I’m hoping to finish one before March.

I’ve cut out a couple goals that I’ve realized won’t be realistic for me anymore, and I’ve changed a few.

  1. Write a blog post twice a month every Sunday

    • I talked about this a couple days ago, but I want to turn more attention towards writing and learning and sharing, and I want to add more structure and schedule to my life, so I think this will be perfect!

  2. Go on plan a vacation

    • I really do still want to go on a vacation this year, but I also have money goals that are a little more important to me right now, so I want to at least plan one, even if I plan it for next year (but hopefully it’ll be this one!)

  3. Only buying [Non-Disney] secondhand clothes

    • If I didn’t make this adjustment, I would have failed 47 times over by now. Outside of new Disney outfits, I’ve gotten one firsthand bikini (from Target- I didn’t have one and I’ll get good use), and one matching linen set from Macy’s (I didn’t need it, but it was the first week of the year and I’ve learned my lesson).

I’ve changed, done good with, removed, and slightly added more to my list, but I just wanted to share a few! It’s okay to adjust goals as you get into them, not everything can stay the same forever- so I’m trying to give myself a lot of grace while also keeping working towards what I want! Next week I start on my self-made Funky Giraffes Schedule, so stay tuned!!!!

With Love, Willianny
